Welcome to Holy Cross Regional Catholic School! We are pleased to inform you that Holy Cross is provided with a school nurse each school day. We are under the direction of the Perkiomen Valley School District and must follow all of its health care policies.
School health services are provided for illness or injuries that manifest during the school day. Ongoing health issues or home injuries are to be addressed at home. The following are important guidelines to assist you in making decisions regarding keeping your child home from school:
2021-22 School year: During the pandemic, please continue to monitor your child's health before sending him or her to school. If your child is not feeling well, please contact your child's physician for guidance. The Montgomery County Health Department does recommend COVID-19 testing for all symptoms (See COVID-19 School Exclusion Recommendations above on this page.)
2. Your child will be sent home if their temperature is 100’ F or above. Your child shall be fever free for at least 24 hours
without the use of antipyretics (Tylenol or ibuprofen) before returning to school.
3. Children with vomiting and diarrhea are to be kept home for 24 hours after the last episode. They should also be tolerating a regular diet.
4. Children with suspected infectious diseases (i.e. pink eye, strep throat, and unknown rashes) are to be kept home until verification from your health care provider can be obtained.
5.All medications, including over the counter medications, need a doctor’s note and must be in the original container. No loose medication will be dispensed to students.
Students are not permitted to carry medication with them. All medication must be brought to the Nurse’s office by the parent.
6. If your child is sick, he or she must be kept home regardless of parties, field trips, or other special events. Children will want to come to school and not miss the fun time, but they are usually too sick to be here and risk infecting their classmates and staff.
As part of Pennsylvania’s mandated screening program, height, weight, BMI (body mass index) calculation and vision testing will be done on all students. Hearing screening will be conducted on children in kindergarten through third grade.
Pennsylvania School Health Law requires medical and dental examinations for all new students to Holy Cross. You have received the forms to be completed by your family doctor/ dentist. It is recommended that your health care providers complete these examinations, as the school exams are simply a screening process. These examinations must be completed
after July 1, 2020. Forms dated prior to that will not be accepted. Your child will be given school exam if the forms are not returned to school.
All medical and health related forms can be found on the school website. The
forms are located under the Parents tab under Health and Wellness.
In addition, please note:
Children entering school year 2021-2022 will be expected to have the required Tdap dose at 11-12 years of age per Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Pennsylvania Department of Health recommendation.
A physical exam is required for all new students, students entering kindergarten and sixth grade. A dental exam is required for all new students, students entering kindergarten, third grade, and seventh grade.
